Matte Finishes, Loose Curls, and Messy Braids

Hey Girls, I know I told you about Fall 2010 Fashion trends allready, but this blog is going to be about the small stuff. You know, the details that can make or break a outfit you worked all afternoon to put together! In my opinion nicely manicured nails-and I don't mean you have to go to the salon once a week, but let there be no dirt under your nails, keep them filed and use hand cream- can make even a sweatsuit seem more put together. Also, I don't know of a single girl who has never had a bad hair day...we all do. But hopefully in this you will read of the up and comming hair & nail trends expected to arrive this Fall!

First things First: Hair
I have been doing my research and the trends I have seen on the runways are not very attractive and in most cases not street worthy ( not street worthy-by that I mean what might look okay on the runway but if you wore it to school...lets just say you would get some funny looks). Although, one thing I have noticed is that braids are still around. I love this trend. Because if your hair is long enough you can wear it in a cute loose side braid (Also called a Bohemian Braid). Or my favorite are the "Hippie" braids. I wear hippie braids sometimes to work when I have a bad hair day because for some reason they work good no matter what your hair decides to do that day! All Hippie braids are, are the small braids you form on each side of your head and gently pull together in the back in a clear hair tie.
Also, I know we have all grown to love the lose curls look, and thankfully the naturally chic trend is back this Fall!

Matte Finishes!
Okay, Okay, I honestly and not a huge fan on this trend, but I thought you ought to know. Matte Finishes on nails are apparenly going to be a hot nail polish trend. Matte Finishes are not shing like you are normally use to seeing and instead have a dull finish. They are pretty cute on other people, but I believe I will be sticking to the shiny gloss of my favorite OPI's.

2010 Fall Fashion:What to Expect

Hey Ladies,

This fall's fashion vaires from Military to White Tights. This is good news- no matter who you are there will be a style to fit your personality. I love the drastic differences comming up and have allready spotted out my personal favorites! Maybe you will too!

Forward March- Its Military!!

I know your probably thinking, "Wasn't military last season??". Although, the name remains the style has grown. It is now either aviator or army- navy or army green. There are so many ways to wear it such as:baggy pants, cropped jackets, and shearling embellished boots. My personal favorite out of the military is aviator, because of the sleek and sophisticated yet retro feel of shorter leather jackets and decorative gold buttons.

Button it up!

You might want to store your loose fitted flowy shirts away for a while because fall 2010 is all about the buttons. The trend will be seen from buisness shirts to elegant shirt dresses. But, in order to wear the trend correctly you must button your shirt ALL the way up. It sounds excessive but you can tame down the timidness with a cute short skirt, or play it out with a nice pair of perfectly crisp high waisted trouser shorts.

Snow White!

I know we are all use to grabbing our black or brown tights out of the closet come fall and winter, but this year the color is white. White tights are a fresh new start to the look this season. Its easy to wear. For fall pair your white (or cream) tights with neutrals and a cute pair of fur lined boots. Also, you can extend the look to winter by opting for lighter huges such as pastel pink, soft grey, or even a cream. Although, for this style statement you need to have some matcing shoes because darker colors can seem blocky (fyi: it can also shorten the appearance of your legs, and of you are 5'3 like me it matters!!).

There are a few other looks to be on the watch for such as the following:knee high socks, camel coats, sheer, and velvet. The ones I chose to discuss are my personal favorite top three. I can see them really taking off this season and auctially hitting the streets. It seems like this fall has a 70's vibe, and honestly I hope we move through this 80's thing we have going right now before anyone decides to bring back te fanny pack!!!

One Animal Print Away From A Traveling Circus

I work at Specialty Gift Shoppe, and let me just say today was interesting.

As I was putting out the newest Ivy Jane fall blazers I noticed that someone had come into the store. I decided I should go over to greet her and see if she might need any assistance. Little did I realize what was instore for me just around the corner.

There looking at a clutch was a woman wearing so much animal print she could have competed with Barnum & Bailey. She was decked out in it from head to toe. Starting with her leopard cardigan, to her snake print camisole & pleather pants then ending with a matching leopard tote-this lady meant buisness. I dont' think I could have saw more animals if I was on an African Safari.

Animal prints are not a bad thing, but this lady had obviously went over board. There are only a few ways to sport the prints in a fashion that do not make you look like "Great Aunt Lulu" (You know who I am talking about. That aunt that everyone has who is always....hmm...eccentric).

Step One: Even if the animal prints are the same color it does not mean you can wear them at the same time. Nor does it mean that the "less" crazy one can be classified as a solid.

Step Two: Use them in small doses. If the Animal Lady who came into the store that day had been wearing a basic pair of trouser pants, a black camisole and then the leopard cardigan-that would have been acceptable.

I thought everyone would know the rules of Animal Prints...but apparently I was wrong. Although, I have to give the Animal Lady credit:she has her own style statement and is happy with it.

(But this is not the 90's and she is not Brittney Spears..so maybe she will give those pleather pants a toss soon!!)

Untill tomorrow,
Tori

Just an Introduction

Hey Girls, in this blog you will read my own personal thoughts and opinions on the latest fashion or maybe just what I have saw someone wearing that day. I may not always be right, but I will always be honest. I love cute shoes, pearls, casual dresses, and Audrey Hepburn. I believe that every girl should have a Style Role Model...Miss. Hepburn happens to be mine. She once said "I never think of myself as an icon. What is in other people's mind, is not in my mind. I just do my thing.". I love her for that. She was quirky, couture, and always a step ahead.

I may not always be wearing my most stylish outfit and some days my hair will be in a messy bun. Yet, with that messy bun there will be a cute headband or a nice pair of pearl earrings. The way fashion changes over the years-or should I say weeks!- has always intrigued me. I believe that a girl can never have too many pairs of heels, and pearls are a girl's best friend. My mother has always told me that I remind her of my Nana. Nana wore high heels everyday to work for as long as she could remember. Now, understand I do not wear heels everyday, but Nana passed on to me a love and desire to be fashion forward. Okay Ladies remember these rules:keep it classy & simple and you will never look back at a old photograph with regret and think "What in the world was I wearing?!?" :)
